Invisalign®: The Discreet, Comfortable, and Easy Way to Straighten Your Smile
Misaligned teeth can affect more than just your self-esteem and confidence in your appearance. They can also impact your oral health. Misalignment is traditionally corrected with metal braces, which are obtrusive, uncomfortable, and non-removable.
Fortunately, Dr. David M. Kaffey and Dr. Mark Weinstein offer Invisalign® at our Lansdale, PA, office to gently move your teeth into alignment. Invisalign® is a discreet, comfortable, and removable orthodontic alternative to traditional braces.
Invisalign® has modernized orthodontics by using clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth. The aligning trays are made of smooth, comfortable, virtually invisible plastic. Worn for 20-22 hours a day, Invisalign® gently shifts your teeth into proper alignment with minimal discomfort. The trays can be integrated into any lifestyle and are removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. Most conditions that can be treated with braces can be treated with Invisalign®, including:
- Gapped teeth
The Invisalign® Procedure
Your dentist will carefully examine the alignment of your bite and overall oral health to ensure that Invisalign® is right for you. Once your candidacy has been determined, your dentist will clean and prepare your teeth. Precise impressions, pictures, and x-rays will be taken, all of which will be used to create a 3-D image of your smile. Your dentist will create a unique treatment plan for you based on these images. Using the same technology, you can view a virtual representation of how your teeth will move throughout treatment.
Invisalign® is virtually invisible, and gently shifts your teeth into proper alignment with minimal discomfort.
Your next appointment will consist of getting acclimated to your new aligners. The BPA-free plastic trays will not irritate the soft tissue in your mouth, like traditional metal braces often do. With traditional braces, everyday brushing and flossing can be difficult, painful, and time consuming. However, Invisalign® allows easy, stress-free dental maintenance. With Invisalign®, you can brush and floss as you normally would. Every two weeks, you will begin wearing a new set of aligners. Each new set gently moves the teeth closer to proper alignment. Typically, adult treatment takes approximately one year. The length of treatment for teens may be longer, and is comparable to the timeline of traditional metal braces. Routine checkups every six weeks are recommended to ensure optimal results.
Patients often have to choose between traditional metal braces and Invisalign®. Traditional braces offer functional benefits, but are often considered uncomfortable and inconvenient. Invisalign®, on the other hand, provides:
- Gradual, gentle alignment.
- A straightened, symmetrical smile.
- Smooth, BPA-free liners that do not irritate gums.
- Clear aligners that are virtually unnoticeable to others.
- Quick and easy brushing and flossing, which promotes good periodontal health.
- No food restrictions. Invisalign® is removable, allowing you to continue eating the foods you love.
The system is often used on its own but can be incorporated into a comprehensive smile makeover for even more dramatic results.
Could you benefit from a straighter, more symmetrical smile? Do you hate the thought of wearing uncomfortable metal braces and avoiding the foods you love? Invisalign® could be the solution you are looking for. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment.
