Dental Implants

Dr. David Kaffey and Dr. Mark Weinstein partner with an outstanding team of local oral surgeons and periodontists to provide top-quality dental implants. These biocompatible titanium posts are permanently secured in your jawbone, and they can support a number of restorations, including crowns, bridges, and dentures. Although our doctors do not place implants, they can restore your existing implants and provide complete pre- and post-operative care for implant patients.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when your soft palate and tongue collapse during sleep, blocking your airways and causing you to wake up, sometimes hundreds of times a night. This condition can cause chronic fatigue and it has been linked to a number of serious health concerns. Although some practitioners treat sleep apnea with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, Dr. Kaffey uses custom-made, comfortable oral appliances to realign your jaw while you sleep.

TMJ Disorder Therapy

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder is a common condition that occurs when your jaw joints are damaged or the surrounding tissue becomes inflamed. TMJ disorder is often triggered by chronic teeth grinding, and its symptoms include jaw pain, migraines, facial pain, and a clicking noise when you open your mouth. Our doctors offer conservative, yet highly effective, treatment using custom-made mouthguards, which can reduce grinding and realign your jaw.

Dental Crowns

If you have a broken or severely weakened tooth, a dental crown can restore your smile and bite. These custom-made caps are fitted over the top of your tooth, and they are specially designed to blend beautifully with your smile. We proudly offer crowns from various materials, including all-porcelain, zirconia, and porcelain-fused-to-metal. One of the unique aspects of our practice is that if custom colors for your crowns are needed, you can actually go to the dental lab, where the technician will select the correct customized shades for a lifelike match to your other teeth.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges can be a great way to replace one or more missing teeth. These synthetic teeth rest between two supporting crowns, literally bridging the gap left by your missing teeth. Like our crowns, bridges can be made from porcelain, metal, or porcelain-fused-to-metal, and you can visit the dental lab to have the color of your restoration matched in person. We also partner with local oral surgeons to provide implant-supported bridges.

Dentures are designed to replace all or most of your upper or lower teeth. Unlike dentures of past generations, however, today’s restorations fit comfortably and look highly lifelike. We offer traditional dentures, which rest on a gum-colored plastic base and sit snugly around your alveolar ridge. The bases are filled with a soft liner for comfortable, all-day use. We also work with a team of specialists to provide advanced implant-supported dentures.

Overdentures are a type of removable implant-supported denture. Although the implant posts are permanent, the restoration snaps on to the posts and can be removed for easy cleaning and maintenance. At the same time, because they rest on durable posts, you will not have to worry about your dentures slipping out of place and you can enjoy a wider range of foods. Additionally, the restorations rest snugly against your gums for a more lifelike appearance.

Root Canal Therapy

If you have an infected tooth root, root canal therapy may be the only way to avoid extraction. During your procedure, your dentist will clean and reshape the inner chamber of your tooth, as well as your root canals. Then he will fill your tooth with a rubber compound and restore its function with a dental crown. Our doctors use rotary handpieces for minimal discomfort, and we can typically complete the procedure in a single office visit.

Dental Fillings

If your dentist discovers a cavity, a filling is usually the best way to strengthen your tooth and prevent bacteria from spreading further. We offer tooth-colored composite resin fillings, which, unlike traditional amalgam, will not show through your teeth over time. Composite also bonds more strongly with your teeth than metal does. In addition to placing new fillings, our doctors can replace your old metal fillings with tooth-colored restorations.

Porcelain Onlays

An onlay is essentially three-quarters of a crown. It may be the best treatment option if your tooth is too damaged for a filling, but it does not require an entire crown. This custom-made restoration will fit on the top chewing surfaces of your molar, extending over the cusps and down the sides of your tooth. Like crowns and bridges, onlays can be color-matched to blend naturally with your teeth. Our doctors prefer IPS e.max® porcelain, which is renowned for its strength and durability.
